Serial No. RH088XX
Among the many condolence letters I wrote in the wake of H.M. King Harald V’s death was a letter to H.M. King Charles III, a cousin of the late Norwegian monarch. This reply, unlike most I have received from Buckingham Palace, is not signed by Mr. James Dawson, head of royal correspondence, but by someone whose signature I cannot decipher.
I have noticed among other collectors’ shared replies that their mail from Buckingham Palace lately is also not signed by Mr. Dawson. I wonder where he could be?
(The “XX” in the serial no. denotes that I forgot to record the outgoing letter in my logbook and so the logged reply is, as a result, out of chronological order there.)
