In March I sent a birthday message to HRH Grand Duchess Maria Theresa of Luxembourg and was pleased to receive this card in reply. It is, however, different in two important ways from every other reply I have ever received from the Grand Duchy.

First, the card is in French. Every other reply from the Palais Grand-Ducal in Luxembourg has been in Luxembourgish. But also (and perhaps a bit disappointingly) this response did not include a photo unlike every other reply from there.

Perhaps since HRH Grand Duke Henri’s abdication last October, the palace is making an effort to distinguish the replies from the former reigning couple from the new, TRH Grand Duke Guillaume V and Grand Duches Stephanie.
